Aloha! We are local Maui residents observing on things as they happen on our island. Hopefully you enjoy our thoughts and experiences in Maui, Hawaii. Mahalo!
Observations, News & Photos from local Maui Residents
• It's a small airport, so don't expect a great selection of food. Some include: California Pizza Kitchen, Sting Rays, Pinkberry, Starbucks, Sammy's, etc... All of which are overpriced ( shocker, I know
• People movers are never operational, it seems
• Some great views
• Surfboards have been known to get trashed. I lost a board viciously once
• Massage chairs for a price
• Usually pretty nice people working here
• Agricultural inspection happens twice when leaving
There are plenty of shuttle services from the Kahului Airport, most of which have car seats for infants. You can get a shuttle from the airport without reservations, but it's smart to book ahead so that you can be certain you get an infant/Toddler seat. (Make sure you get the correct sized seat too! Might want to call them.)
We hope this has been helpful. Have a great trip to Maui! ALOHA!!
Maui Information Guide
Hi there,
My husband and I and Baby are visiting Maui in August. We are going to Kaanapali beach, and not hiring a car, so wanting to organise transfers or taxis of some sort to our hotel from the airport. Can you give me any info on these options and also do taxis come with baby seats if ordered? We really don't want to hold our baby for a half hour drive.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks so much,Liz
Kahului Airport (OGG) has some million dollar views. One of the most beautiful places to land in the world! http://www.maui-maps.com/maui-airport-map.php
Freeways!
We took this 2 days ago while flying over the 405 Freeway on our way back home to Maui. Seriously, we HATE freeways. They create many of the emotions and feelings we try to avoid: Anger, Frustration, Anxiety, Stress, Fear, Hatred, Sadness, Boredom, and Depression. We don't have a whole lot of that on our island. We flew from Virginia to LAX to Kahului Airport. A long trip, but worth it to get home!
Aloha,
I have a question, I am in Oahu currently and would like to visit maui for 2 days. Do I take a flight to Maui - Kahului or Kapalua?
Fly to Kahului. Kapalua is much more expensive to fly into. If you're staying on the west side (Kapalua, Lahaina, Kaanapali), rent a car or get a shuttle to your hotel. It's about an hour drive from the airport, but you'll be saving BIG BUCKS. If you're staying on the west side and can get a good price to Kapalua, then go for it. If you plan on doing the Road to Hana and Sunrise at Haleakala, it would be wiser to stay on the South Side of Maui.
For Haleakala, you can rent a car, or you can do a tour. We love the Maui bike tour with Haleakala Bike Company 1-888-922-2453 . They'll drive you up to the summit, you watch the sunrise, then they give you a bike and all the gear you need at the base of Haleakala National Park. finally, you cruise down miles of downhill countryside at your own pace. It's a great trip. For Hana, I suggest renting a car and following these important Road to Hana Tips.I hope this helps you, Megha! Have a great trip!Best Wishes,
